Why TIPS is not a CME-Accredited Activity

The Technology Innovation in Plastic Surgery (TIPS) Meeting is a completely new kind of meeting that will function more like a "think tank" or "workshop" rather than a traditional medical education meeting. The goal of TIPS is to start a dialogue between clinicians (who know where the problems are), scientists (who know what tools are available), and industry (who know what is possible in the real world). Working together, these three constituencies will be able to "see over the horizon" to develop innovative solutions to real-world problems and ultimately improve patient care. This type of meeting does not exist anywhere within reconstructive and aesthetic surgery but is essential to "jump start" innovation in plastic surgery.

Please note that Technology Innovation in Plastic Surgery (TIPS) is not a CME-accredited activity. Because we want to have direct participation by industry experts and representatives in TIPS, we are not offering CME accreditation for these learning activities. Since March, 2009, the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) has not allowed employees of a commercial interest to present on topics directly related to their business lines and products at CME activities. Please be assured, however, that participants will still receive the highest level of professional presentations and content at TIPS.
